Irene Loizidou Nikolaidou studied law at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and journalism in Athens. je študirala pravo na Nacionalni in Kapodistrijski Univerzi v Atenah in novinarstvo v Atenah. She obtained MBA title at the Cyprus International Institute of Management (CIIM). She is an accredited CERD mediator. Until her appointment as the Information Commissioner of Cyprus, she practised law as an attorney at law.
She also acted as city council of Egkomi, Nikozia, for three mandates in a row. She was a permanent member of Cyprus local councils society at Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of Council of Europe and, from 2007 until her appointment as Information Commissioner, vice-president of the Congress Monitoring Committee.
